How To Achieve A Stunning Lawn With Green Lawn Care

Green lawn care can achieve outstanding results without the harshness of chemicals, keeping your lawn in a healthy state for longer. It does need you to put in a bit more effort to get the best results, but you can have the satisfaction of knowing that your lawn was produced without any potential damage being caused through the use of chemicals which can always produce side effects. Much of the treatment of your lawn will be the same as with the conventional scenario, it is just the manual treatment of weeds which is substantially different.

The consideration of whether to apply green lawn care really needs to start in the fall. It is this time when the growth cycle has just been completed when the preparations for the next year need to be made. It is always a good idea to get some air into the soil if this has not been done for a few seasons. There is no real need to do this every year, but once every two or three years will yield good results. The best method is the traditional one, with a garden fork, but there is machinery which can do the job and save you time.

One there is air in the soil, you can begin clearing away the debris from the previous season. Again, doing the job manually with a rake will give you the best possible result, but there are machines which can help you get the job done more quickly and with less effort. There is one vital consideration here, and that is that machines can damage the soil and the surface if they are used too aggressively, so be careful. With hand raking, it is virtually impossible to damage the soil.

It is when spring comes that you have to be most careful. Traditional gardeners have the benefit of being able to use preparations which combine fertilizer with weedkiller, and the weedkiller element should be strengthened as the growth cycle progresses. This benefit is not able to those practicing natural lawn care, so it will be necessary to do a lot more manual weeding. This can have good results, as those who use chemicals can have a tendency to over rely on them.

One of the most difficult aspects of preparing a lawn in this way is keeping the surface even and smooth. You will need to be very watchful of holes appearing in the grass early in the season, so you can quickly sow extra seed. Filling in these holes not only saves the appearance of your lawn, it prevents one of the biggest causes of weeds blighting the lawn. Feeding the lawn with good compost, and leaving the cuttings on the lawn after it has been mowed in the spring will allow the lawn to get the nutrient it needs. This is the fundamental key to getting good results with green lawn care.
